Professional Background  
Claudia Neuman was born in Santa Monica, California and now resides on the east coast in the state of Maryland. She is a certified Anusara Yoga Instructor, as well as the Operations Manager for Pathways Magazine in Silver Spring. Claudia is lead singer and songwriter for her band, Sister Ex.



Yoga Background  
Claudia is a Certified Anusara Yoga teacher, RYT 500, the culmination of a lifelong devotion to achieving excellence in yoga. She has over 21 years of formal yoga training, starting in Santa Monica, California, in 1984, where she became the first person to offer yoga at the YMCA. While at USC completing a Masters Degree in Social Work, she taught yoga to students and faculty. She integrates her knowledge of yoga with her skill as a social worker, developing corporate stress reduction programs, working with oncology patients at Children's Hospital, and teaching yoga to artists and performers. She has trained with noteworthy teachers of Ashtanga and Iyengar Yoga including Rod Stryker, and assisting Erich Shiffman. In 1993, faced with possibly losing the use of her left arm as a result of a debilitating car accident, she began studying Pilates and therapeutic yoga. This led her to John Friend, creator of Anusara Yoga, with whom she now studies.


Questions and Answers   

Q: What other hobbies do you have aside from yoga practice?
A: I am a musician and have a band called Sister Ex. We perform all over the east coast, and, our CD is available through band camp. We are getting ready to record our next CD and will be traveling and touring in 2012.

Q: What is the title of a book that you have read recently that you could strongly recommend?
A: Practicing the Presence by Joel Goldsmith

Q: What is one place that you would like to visit in the world? Why?
A: Spain. I haven't been there yet.

Q: What's your favorite color?
A: Anything rose, magenta, purple, reddish, etc....

Q: What award in high school should you have won?
A: Music, I should have won something to do with music, but, I was too busy moving around to different High Schools....in different states and countries, depending on where my Father wanted to send me away to next...
