Professional Background
I am the mom of an amazing 3 year old named Bija by day and gratefully practice all that I learn and cultivate in my life at night and and on the weekends. I've found that beauty graces every moment in our lives, if we are just willing to see it and bask in it. This is why I practice..to see the beauty in life.
Yoga Background
Anusara–Inspired Yoga Instructor, first stepped onto the mat and into the practice of yoga in 1995. She had no idea then how it would profoundly shift her own life. She received her original 200 hour training certification in Hatha Yoga in 2004, but soon after immersed herself in training and skillful action in Anusara. She steadily surfs the waves of her own unfolding as an Anusara-Inspired Teacher to which she has offered hundreds of hours of study, playful self inquiry and a desire to serve others to really see their own beauty. Her classes are focused on the beauty of alignment and the playfulness of spirit as a gateway to becoming more powerful. Andrea teaches her students to always start with a solid foundation from which they can expand themselves into their own greatness. She believes the way to align with your heart is through fun and playful engagement of all that life has to offer. She is profoundly grateful to all her teachers for their wisdom and ability to laugh, especially John Friend, Stacey Rosenberg, Abby Tucker, Paul Muller-Ortega and Douglas Brooks.
Questions and Answers
Q: What other hobbies do you have aside from yoga practice?
A: I love to read any and all fiction. I am a movie enthusiast, although not a super snob about what I see. If it involves getting out and about, I'm in!
Q: What is the title of a book that you have read recently that you could strongly recommend?
A: I'm currently reading Christina Sells's "My Body is a Temple." I bow down to you Christina Sell-oh practical and eloquent and funny teacher.
Q: What is one of your all-time favorite movies?
A: Anything John Hughes- I am such a sap for 80s flicks
Q: What is one place that you would like to visit in the world? Why?
A: India. Why? To view the full spectrum of life.
Q: What's your favorite color?
A: Green! It's the color of Kermit, all things in bloom and associated with the heart!
Q: What award in high school should you have won?
A: The award I did win was something to do with creative writing. The award I should have won would have been for "the weirdest, yet most willing to hang out with anyone else weird or non weird."
Q: What is one of the funniest incidents that occurred in one of your yoga classes?
A: Telling my students, as they were articulating their bhujangasanas to stop gripping their butts because while we hope to get a tight a$& in yoga, the goal is not to become a tight a(#. It was funny to hear the entire class laugh.
