Questions and Answers
Q: What other hobbies do you have aside from yoga practice?
A: I love living life to its fullest! Being outside is delightful to me, as I enjoy reveling in Nature & celebrating its magnificent beauty. I love to hike, climb, bike, and swim in the ocean and rivers, streams, & lakes of NC. I love to dance and have been doing so my whole life, thrilled & also calmed by the feeling of joy that it creates. I dig good music & sharing it with friends. And I'm aspiring to shred some waves, although this has proven interesting to say the least! Reading & talking philosophy are high on the list, as is watching good movies (and sometimes not-so-good ones that are entertaining anyway) and reading good books. Hanging with those for whom I care about a lot is super important, and my sweet dog Dakota (D for short) is high on the list! I've been doing more vegetable gardening as of late, and this has proven to be one of the most therapeutic activities for me; I love everything about the process of growing vegetables from the planting to the nourishing to the eating to the composting, and back again. I'm learning to speak their language more and more. And, of course, I absolutely love teaching yoga.
Q: What is the title of a book that you have read recently that you could strongly recommend?
A: I have recently been enjoying Paulo Coelho's work. I find his stories engaging, sweet, & deeply meaningful. I appreciate how he blends many facets of a story together to create a compelling piece with a timeless quality and inspiring message.
Q: What is one of your all-time favorite movies?
A: The Sound of Music. True, it is a bit cheesy, but it`s totally a classic! And who doesn't love singing with Julie Andrews? I think it's an excellent story filled with courage and inspiration, kind of like Anusara! I'm also a big fan of Amelie, Spinal Tap (one of the funniest movies ever!), Dreams, and Juno.
Q: What is one place that you would like to visit in the world? Why?
A: I have sat with this & decided that I really can't limit it to one place! I have such dreams of traveling to Indonesia & the southeastern part of the world, but I'd also love to visit Kuai and Alaska, Brazil and Peru. Since college I've wanted to visit West Africa. And I can't leave out Russia & Siberia (I'm definitely not kidding here). So I suppose I'd better get on it!
Q: What's your favorite color?
A: I love all colors, period, and I certainly feel it depends a bit based on the time of year. I love oranges, burgandies, & browns in the fall. But lavender and sage green are my all-time favorites...gateway is an embodiment of this!
Q: What award in high school should you have won?
A: Most likely to unknowingly astrally project off the planet!
